How Technology Affects Workplace Productivity

I found an interesting article on 12 Ways Technology Can Increase Workplace Productivity:
https://www.tinypulse.com/blog/12-ways-technology-can-increase-workplace-productivity

I like this topic. This reminds me of a paper I prepared on the performance impacts of technology (on hand hygiene compliance). Some of the research questions include:

RQ1: Do technology solutions that monitor hand hygiene compliance result in improved employee performance in the short-term because employees develop the habit of cleaning/washing their hands (i.e. is there a steady increase in performance that peaks at a certain level – performance follows an asymptotic curve)?

RQ2. What is the longer-term performance impact of implementing a technology solution that monitors hand hygiene compliance, i.e. the performance impact after 1 year and beyond (after 3, 4, 5 years etc.)?

RQ3. Would employee job satisfaction and retention increase, decrease or remain unchanged following the implementation of the technology solution that monitors hand hygiene compliance?

The paper is available here:

In Guyana

I traveled to Guyana from NY about 2-3 months ago. I am having a good time. I am still at school (preparing papers and so on) & am also looking for work. I am looking for a job in the U.S. as well as Guyana. I hope I find a teaching position.

I recently got my hair done....

Still in NY....new fundraising idea

Not so long ago, I thought of a new idea to raise funds. I hope there is a lot of interest.
My post on my new fundraising activity....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My fundraising continues. Please support me guys!!

This time, I am offering to assist with something you can do but probably don't have the time to do it..... creating calendars or photo books from your photos (online/social media photos or other photos).

I created two calendars at Walgreens recently & spent quite a bit of time trying various (standard or out-of-the-box) options so that I get a certain look and feel. The extra time I spent paid off -- I was thrilled with the result! It reminded me of my calendar design. And, I did not have to pay for "extras" although it looked like I included extras/add-ons.

The wall calendar at Walgreens starts at $19.99. The desk calendar starts at $9.99. If you send me your photos or direct me to your photos, I can build a calendar for you (using Walgreen's system) for a small fee ($5?). You could specify the theme for your calendar, maybe a specific trip/vacation or recipes/food.
Folks in New York could probably pay me in cash....we will have to work something out. I could use my paypal account for other payments.

Please think about and let me know. I hope you order something!
My email address: moorefo1@gmail.com.

Update

Almost a month since my last post in this blog....so much has happened.

I am currently in NY & close to leaving the country. I planned to leave soon after getting here, but that plan changed. I had to deal with some unexpected "events." An example: the loss of my bag (which later showed up) and then loss of items I packed in the bag. The bag contained my old computer, tablet, lotions, and so on. Those items are now considered stolen (obviously selected from the bag). The NY police is investigating.

I spend a lot of time at Bryant Park in NY next to mid-Manhattan NY Public Library. At first, I wanted to be where my stuff was taken. Now, I just enjoy time at the park.
I am also peacefully protesting issues of/related to RESPECT. As I mentioned to a friend, "I think I had a Forrest Gump moment....when you just start something because things are not going well. There is a lot to protest....my lost stuff (old computer, tablet, purses etc.), disrespect everywhere, no funds to continue my PhD right now, and so on and so forth."

I am tracking a lot of my activities in Facebook. It is a difficult time, but I can handle it.....

I am not sure what tomorrow will bring.

School break continues

I am still on a break from school, but still "busy." My break is like a working vacation.

I profile/highlight my papers and research from time to time. Post examples shown below:

I comment on news stories and articles:

I work on projects (learning something new) like I usually do during a course. I looked at podcasting recently.

I also added new Pinterest boards/categories. One example:

Because I had extra time, I worked on a top song list for 2017 (I wasn't sure I would have the time). I like how turned out..

Song list at: https://lifelessonsforall-com.blogspot.com/ and https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmYXTlZN4bBLiYNV-KrhlU0dV3NS6jpHQ

I applied for a professor job in Guyana & would likely travel there soon. I attempted a trip (researched prices & so on) a few weeks ago. Trip ON HOLD for now.

REPOST:
#ThrowbackThursday.....
Remembering my move to GNV a few years ago. I planned it all - looked into details, found an apartment, and so on.

I plan to move again soon. This time I asked for the assistance of a lawyer (who handled/ looked into several problems for me in the past).

Project

POST IN FACEBOOK:

Happy Sunday!
I stumbled upon the John10:10 project this morning (link: https://thejohn1010project.com/phone/about.html). It was good to see someone "take on" questions about Almighty God and Jesus Christ of Nazareth (I believe that God exists, but I don't know a lot about hard evidence or artifacts that he exists or his son Jesus Christ of Nazareth did all those activities/things recorded in the New Testament - not that it is needed).

The project reminded me of my Lessons project (Life's Lessons). My project had different goals.

The Lessons Project was a personal project, i.e. a project I came up with /designed. It turned out really great (some accomplishments listed in my resume/CV available at fahmeenaodetta1.wordpress.com). I thank you for supporting the project - from that first request to provide some of your important life lessons to smaller sub-projects I came up with later.

By the way....
I was thinking about high school the other day & suddenly realized that one of my teachers looked a little like Jesus (not sure why I didn't think of it back then). That teacher was the electronics teacher.

Radio

My idea for a radio station.....

RiseAbove97.7 (or other available channel/number)
Will profile personal struggles (feature struggle stories, interview successful individuals who struggled, and so on). Will provide information on how to deal with struggles to thrive.
Music will be included, of course.

This idea extends Struggle Stories by The Lessons Project / LifeLessons  (mobile.twitter.com/LessonsProject).

My event

I just created my first event in Facebook and I am excited!
It is a talk on planning for and dealing with serious life issues....

Everything just worked out for this talk. I have not yet started the course so I have some time to prepare for the event properly. Should be a great event (I am trusting in Almighty God!)

Continuing studies and writing about my bounce backs.....

I plan to start a new course on Monday. Hopefully, funding issues will be resolved (the school notified me that I needed to complete federal aid/loan documents).

In the meantime, I am writing more and more on my bounce-back/comeback....

I hope I get a few speaking engagements soon (to talk about BOUNCING BACK or DOING MORE WITH LESS).

Podcasting

I decided on a new area to investigate & test. (I usually investigate & test applications, websites, and so on.)
PODCASTING.
Podcasting & video (one of my research topics) "mix" well. I will also try to integrate into blogs.

Linden Technical Training School

While hunting for a professor/lecturer/instructor position, I ran across an institution I am very familiar with - the Linden Technical Training/Trade School. The building looked really old  (in need of repairs). "I hope they didn't forget about that place," I thought. I decided to take a closer look because I know how important that institution was. Some of my family members learned the electrical "trade" at that school to qualify for a job at the bauxite company. For my A-level Statistics project, I collected information from students at that school via a survey. I even signed up for the theory part of driver training at that school. It looks like there is (or was) a project to repair and revive the school. I will obtain additional information.

Business plan/proposal

I spent some time working on a business plan/proposal for my tea business. I now have a basic 2-3 page proposal that includes my ideas for the business. Some pieces - such as marketing plan, financial estimates - are missing. What I have will suffice. I will work on other pieces later.

UPDATE: I created a new blog to track activities related to the tea business:

Latest idea/project

I am seeking business partner(s) and/or funding for a business that sells teas (and a few smoothies and soups) that heal or nourish the body. I am very familiar with such products - I am familiar with ginger tea, green tea, garlic tea, sorrel drink/tea, and so on. In recent years, I drank/took a lot of that stuff and I am a whole lot healthier. Interest in whole foods and alternative medicines is growing...

Interesting topic

My new course - Enterprise Network Architecture - is really interesting so far. I like the presentations (the course reminds me of the database course because of the presentations). It is the third week and I am working on my second presentation - not the usual assignments.

In week 1, one of the required readings was:
Making Virtue of Necessity: The Role of Team Climate for Innovation in Resource-Constrained Innovation Projects
By Matthias Weiss, Martin Hoegl, and Michael Gibbert
This paper "introduced me" to a new, interesting topic: innovation (& I will add productivity) in a low-resource environment - basically, performance when there is insufficient funding / less resources than typically necessary for high performance. This is my life right now. I have to produce a lot with very little....

Maybe I can make a difference or come up with new ideas in this area. I remember the issues and decisions I made when planning My Research Summary website/page. I ended up with a "basic" website/page (https://fahmeenaodettaresearchsummary.tumblr.com/) and plans to have a more complex website/page. I like the basic page a lot - it would be excellent for someone with limited resources. It has some strengths and advantages. One is the news summary landing page - the idea: http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/04/featured-papers.html. Another is the separate pages for certain areas that receive separate funding - I can provide a url that makes sense to organizations/sponsors. However, the basic page is not the very best design/organization (best of breed). It would be better to have my papers/research all in one place and tagged appropriately so that I can look at them this way and that - "pull" papers on specific topics, such as decision-making, then strategy (subset of decision-making as well as strategy in other areas), and so on. I started a project to look into using StumbleUpon to do just this: http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/04/course-starts-today.html.I have to read more on the low-resource topic.

When I first started down the research path, I thought I would struggle to find interesting topics/research areas (that are close/dear to me and/or I would enjoy). Turns out that there are a lot of areas: Customer-focused research (see my blog for this topic: http://moorefo1customerfocus.blogspot.com/ ), design & usability (see my design blog: http://moorefo1designresearch.blogspot.com/ ), typologies & taxonomies, and so on.

Thankful....

I am thankful today that I away from the Gainesville/Ocala FL area and can work on my assignment (because there is power where I am). Power is still out in Gainesville. I think schools and universities are still closed. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon.

This is a reminder that everything can change in an instant. The future is not guaranteed (no one knows what the future holds). This is why some of us learned to trust in Almighty God and hope for the best.

Truth

The truth should be simple (it should be clear what is true and what is untrue/false), but sometimes it is complicated. One issue is the perspective/knowledge/insight of the person. A person who witnesses an accident, such as a car accident, may see  something (a detail) that another witness did not see. Maybe because of his or her location/angle of viewing. So there will be different "versions of the truth." A person may know more about what he or she is seeing, which could lead to: (1) more understanding and insight into what occurred (with better explanations), or (2) some bias because the additional knowledge leads him or her to believe there is a particular cause or issue (or maybe he/she paid attention to particular things while missing others).

This is an interesting issue...and just a fact of life. People are different. People will notice different things, highlight different things, and so on. It is even in the Bible (My intention is not to criticize or say that the stories are false. I believe they are true). An example is the information on Jesus' "arrest" in the Bible....

In the book of Matthew, the author explains that Judas kissed Jesus to give the others a sign (so that they would know who Jesus is). Jesus said "Friend, wherefore art thou come from" and they took him. (Holy Bible KJV, Matthew 26:50). There is information that Jesus could ask the Father for twelve legions of angels to assist.

In the book of Luke, in chapter 22, there is information that Jesus dealt with Judas by asking "Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?" In verse 5, there is information that a maid and two others reported that Peter was one of them. Peter denied it and the cock crew.

In the book of John, the author reported that Jesus asked "Whom seek ye?" when Judas and the other men showed up. They answered "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" and then Jesus said "I am he" (Holy Bible KJV, John 17:4-5). There is no mention of the kiss in the chapter. There is no mention of a maid as one of the people who said Peter was one of them. Chapter 26 mentions that the servant and kingsman of the high priest whose ear Peter cut off did.

(It is my understanding that these authors were inspired by Almighty God to write).
The different details do not diminish the importance of the story. Maybe it makes it more believable because this is normal.

Truth is so simple yet complicated.

Trust

Note to self:

Trust seems to be a hot new topic. Richie Etwaru recently published a book on blockchain and trust. I just noticed Joyce Meyer's new book on trust....

Meyer's trust is the trust in Almighty God. Incidentally, one of my favorite quotes is:
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."
― Jeremiah 17:7-8, Holy Bible English Standard Version
(info on my use of this quote:
http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/03/old-headers.html & http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/03/good-day.html)

Trust touches a lot of areas - internal controls (accounting), auditing, secrets/clandestine work, selection of businesses and products, and so on. I need to think about trust some more.

Maryland

My vacation / family time in Maryland is going well. I stayed with my father & family first, then moved on to my mother and sister. I had a good time on my birthday. I enjoyed visiting old, familiar places. I am eating a lot, and so on. A really good time overall!
(I didn't have internet access for a short while, but that wasn't much of a problem).

I will be here in Maryland for a short while longer.

Know yourself, Celebrate your background

A thought about knowing yourself.....

I clearly remember wanting to go fruit picking during pastorial sessions, as other classmates/batchmates did. The pastorial parents who took their pastorial children to pick jamun and mangoes seemed cool and fun. (Actually, I think I tagged along with another parent/teacher once).
Rambo introduced pacman later and I enjoyed that! Maybe I didn't know myself really well back then.
