I traveled to Guyana from NY about 2-3 months ago. I am having a good time. I am still at school (preparing papers and so on) & am also looking for work. I am looking for a job in the U.S. as well as Guyana. I hope I find a teaching position.
I recently got my hair done....

Interesting topic
My new course - Enterprise Network Architecture - is really interesting so far. I like the presentations (the course reminds me of the database course because of the presentations). It is the third week and I am working on my second presentation - not the usual assignments.
In week 1, one of the required readings was:
Making Virtue of Necessity: The Role of Team Climate for Innovation in Resource-Constrained Innovation Projects
By Matthias Weiss, Martin Hoegl, and Michael Gibbert
This paper "introduced me" to a new, interesting topic: innovation (& I will add productivity) in a low-resource environment - basically, performance when there is insufficient funding / less resources than typically necessary for high performance. This is my life right now. I have to produce a lot with very little....
Maybe I can make a difference or come up with new ideas in this area. I remember the issues and decisions I made when planning My Research Summary website/page. I ended up with a "basic" website/page (https://fahmeenaodettaresearchsummary.tumblr.com/) and plans to have a more complex website/page. I like the basic page a lot - it would be excellent for someone with limited resources. It has some strengths and advantages. One is the news summary landing page - the idea: http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/04/featured-papers.html. Another is the separate pages for certain areas that receive separate funding - I can provide a url that makes sense to organizations/sponsors. However, the basic page is not the very best design/organization (best of breed). It would be better to have my papers/research all in one place and tagged appropriately so that I can look at them this way and that - "pull" papers on specific topics, such as decision-making, then strategy (subset of decision-making as well as strategy in other areas), and so on. I started a project to look into using StumbleUpon to do just this: http://moorefo1personal77.blogspot.com/2017/04/course-starts-today.html.I have to read more on the low-resource topic.
When I first started down the research path, I thought I would struggle to find interesting topics/research areas (that are close/dear to me and/or I would enjoy). Turns out that there are a lot of areas: Customer-focused research (see my blog for this topic: http://moorefo1customerfocus.blogspot.com/ ), design & usability (see my design blog: http://moorefo1designresearch.blogspot.com/ ), typologies & taxonomies, and so on.

Maryland
My vacation / family time in Maryland is going well. I stayed with my father & family first, then moved on to my mother and sister. I had a good time on my birthday. I enjoyed visiting old, familiar places. I am eating a lot, and so on. A really good time overall!
(I didn't have internet access for a short while, but that wasn't much of a problem).
I will be here in Maryland for a short while longer.

Break
I am on a short break from school (after completing the IT Data Communiications course on schedule). I decided that a break was best...so I could pack, move, and take care of other business without worrying about school papers and deadlines.
At this time, I am also thinking of the best way to proceed with some new project ideas. One idea is to review and analyze decisions on the HGTV show Love It Or List It. (decision-making / decision support is my main research area). There are a lot of interesting decisions on that show - not only decisions by clients (who have to choose between (a) an updated home that was custom designed/renovated to solve some of their reported problems and (b) a carefully selected new home that would also solve some of their problems) but by the designers as well (who frequently have to deal with costly surprises, and so on). Maybe I'll put a proposal together. The project could develop an algorithm to recommend a decision based on financials or other logic. This could be a team effort.

Putting things in order, trying to manage time effectively as I usually do...
I recently submitted another assignment late (see: http://itdatacommmoorefo1.blogspot.com/2017/05/week-5-paper-submitted.html). A second time! I don't want to do that again during the course. I am usually good at managing my time and organization (I am known as a "neat freak" to some).
At this time, I am looking into/pursuing different avenues. I am trying to "put things in order." Some things/activities may not appear important, but they are. Every little bit helps....
For example, I updated the headers/cover photo of a lot of my online accounts yesterday. That has more of an effect than you know!
A picture with the old header:
The new header:
I also used this (related/similar) header in a few places:
(Flickr header)
Today, I spent some time on the "Our God as our Rock" bible study. I reviewed psalm 61....
(photo added to Pinterest and also to summary doc in GoogleDocs)
I also connected the categories in Pinterest - something I meant to do for a while....
I will now go work on my post due today. Back on track!

Missed deadline
I missed the deadline for the week 3 assignment (for the IT Data Communications Management course: http://itdatacommmoorefo1.blogspot.com/). The assignment was due last night at 12. First missed assignment since I started the PhD program! I will try not to read too much into it.
I will continue trusting in Almighty God. Incidentally, the verse of the day at BibleGateway.com is:
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Course starts today
My new course starts today. Hopefully, I don't need a textbook. I would rent the textbook (as I did in the past - see: https://www.instagram.com/p/BCPfaqDCyGT/?taken-by=moorefo1picblog and https://www.instagram.com/p/BFmiPiNiyIz/?taken-by=moorefo1picblog) and it would take a while to get here. I will log on to check soon.
I just created a document in GoogleDocs to track my work in StumbleUpon:

Setting up
I sent the email to my Academic Advisor requesting a new start date for my next course (to 4/10/2017 - next Monday). See my related post on Twitter/Facebook/GooglePlus:

I am about to set up for the new course - create a new blog, create a new project in Research Gate, and so on. This time I will add StumbleUpon to the mix. (I created StumbleUpon accounts recently to learn more about the platform.) Right now, I am not sure how I will use StumbleUpon. Maybe I'll add each paper to an account that now contains a few papers from LinkedIn. That depends on what I learn about tagging and folder creation in StumbleUpon over the next few hours/days.
I found these interesting articles on StumbleUpon:

It is April!
It is a new month - April 2017! I am about to look into my next course. I expect the new course will run from April through June 2017. Then, I'll need to move. It could be a move to another apartment here at Cabana Beach, to a new apartment community, to a new country etc. (I did not renew the lease for my current room. If I do sign/renew a lease, it will be for a new room/apartment. This means I will have to move.)
Hopefully, I will move to another country. I prayed (at church yesterday & also continue to pray) that Almighty God will open the right door - and lead me down the correct path. It could be a move for a job in another country or for school in another country or for some other reason. I am confident that things will work out.
In the meantime, I will try to earn some income. Hopefully, people will contact me about design or other projects. I don't expect much income from The Lessons Project (http://lifelessonsforall-com.blogspot.com/). I also plan to look into other temporary jobs.
I chose the professor path/career primarily because of stability. Most professors I know work continuously and work well into their old age. Another benefit: I expect to use a lot of the business background I have. For a while, I was "stuck" in a technical area (and that is all I will say about that).
_____________________________
Below is an interesting post on my background (posted today on my Facebook, Twitter, GooglePlus and a few other accounts). In high school, some of my courses/classes included: art, technical drawing, computer studies and agricultural science, but I specialized in business. I was in the business stream.

Updated radio station links in this blog
I am on a "break" from school...just for a few days. I will look into my next course (email the Academic Advisor, talk finances with the Financial Aid advisor, and so on) soon.
I spent some time working on my Pinterest profiles. I added boards/categories such as: Gray/Grey, Unflattering, and Controlling. I updated the radio station list included in this blog (as shown in the image below). That was interesting. The Guyanese radio stations made me think of radio history in Guyana. I remember:
- listening to a version of psalm 23 (The Lord is my shepherd) on the radio at 6:00 am every day. Six am was the time to get up for children in our house. I really like that version of the psalm. I sing it from time to time, but can't find it anywhere (here). Not finding that song is interesting because I find a lot of things - I even found that 'Morning has broken' song my mother taught me.
- the change from one radio station to two and a contest to name the stations. I believe the final names were: Voice of Guyana and Radio Roraima.

Rose gold
I discovered the color 'rose gold' today (shown below - in screenshot of my Pinterest profile). I like the color a lot! I updated the links in a lot of my blogs to make them rose gold.
Other updates:
I worked on my independent paper yesterday
(link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TOl_LXTHpY_zT-qy1kfGWXr9PT5-PBT7B07b9oG93us/edit). Current focus is the literature review. One of the included research papers reported that, at any given time, the average person is working on 5 projects. Interesting!
Testing in my life -
I have about 5 open projects at this time - some may be complete but I did not update the document/report:

Updated favorite quotes today...
I added two new quotes to my list of favorite quotes in GooglePlus:
"Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good."
― Maya Angelou, Celebrations: Rituals of Peace and Prayer
"Only love can build us a bridge of light."
― From 'Bridge of Light' by Pink; Video on the "making of" the song: https://youtu.be/iYb1R4Q4ou0; See lyrics at: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/pink/bridgeoflight.html
(I am not affiliated with the website).
Bridges and connections are important. Our relationship with and connection to God (Almighty God) is probably most important.

Hoping to study abroad
Today I sent an email to the school (NCU) requesting information and assistance on studying abroad. I would like to take classes abroad - hopefully in Germany. A previous classmate completed his PhD at a German school so I like that option. I will see what Almighty God has in store for me.

Not so new projects
Today I started working on the article/paper '7 Ps: What It Takes to Succeed' for publishing. The paper will present the findings of my personal project - The Life Lessons Project started in 2013. I am writing the paper publicly - it is available for viewing here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TOl_LXTHpY_zT-qy1kfGWXr9PT5-PBT7B07b9oG93us/edit?usp=sharing
